Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS finished in San Marino Blue – Full car Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS finished in San Marino Blue –  Full car Paint Protection Film (PPF)

We recently had in the latest Porsche 911 992.2, a stunning GTS with incredible spec finished in San Marino Blue with piano black detailing.

To get started, the car was inspected upon arrival. We knew from initial conversations with the customer that this vehicle came straight from Porsche as an approved used vehicle from the main dealer, so we didn’t expect to see too many defects to correct before PPF.

After inspection, the vehicle looked good so we went straight in with the first phase – a full decontamination of the exterior paintwork followed by a snow foam covering, a safe wash process using glue and tar remover, all purpose cleaner and iron fallout remover. Finally the whole vehicle had a claybar treatment to remove any stubborn contaminants.

The car was then brought inside, dried off and inspected under the light – this allows us to inspect for any previous damage to the paintwork, although we weren’t expecting much as it was an approved used car with ow mileage.

Before the Porsche can have the PPF applied, the vehicle needed to go through a single stage machine polishing process to remove swirls and defects, to get the paintwork looking its best. Every body panel received a light polish with a refinement pad (a polishing pad and refinement compound), and the piano black trim also had a light machine polish.

Once this is completed the car then had a final wash to remove any residue from polishing products.  After a final drying, the vehicle is then ready for the PPF application.

To get started, film was cut to fit the panels and then applied one-by-one working consistently around the car, covering every panel as this was a full car kit. Panels are fitted by adding a lubrication to the bodywork, PPF is then placed on top of the panel, moved and finalised in place, and then smoothed over to remove residue from underneath the film.  Once film has dried, edges are folded under and cut accordingly to ensure an exact fit.

Once all the PPF was fitted, we treated the Porsche with a ceramic coating specifically designed for PPF surfaces. This makes it slick to the touch and helps with easy future maintenance and washing.

PPF is a thorough process which takes a few days to a week depending on the job but the benefits are worthwhile. PPF protects paintwork from damage, acting as a shield from things such as scratches, stone chips and bird etching. Visually PPF helps retain the gloss of the paint surface too. There are a number of different brands such as Xpel Ultimate plus PPF and SunTek PPF.

Many customers chose PPF as a way to protect their vehicle and their investment. For more information on our PPF services, get in touch.
