FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We’ve compiled some of the top questions that we get asked to help answer any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or simply want to talk us through your car. We’re happy to discuss your car concerns and possible services prior to making any booking.

What products do you use?

Over the years of operating West Midlands Car Detailing, we have been able to test and try a number of product ranges to find the ones we feel give the very best results.

We offer a full range of Gtechniq products and services, including Gtechniq ceramic coating, bodywork, glass, alloy wheel and interior treatments.

We also use Swissvax Best of Show, the ultimate organic product for detailing services.

How often would I need to use car detailing services?

This really does depend on the car itself and is something we’d be happy to talk through with you prior to you making any booking.

The frequency of detailing can depend on a number of things:

  • Mileage
  • Age of the vehicle
  • Whether it is stored inside or outside
  • How hard the car is driven

All of these factors can affect the lifespan of the products used.

Generally speaking, we would advise detailing services to be carried out on a brand new car for protection. We offer 3 and 5 year ceramic coating services, with smaller top up services recommended on a yearly basis to maintain the product warranty.

If we provide services for your car we will also ensure you leave with full aftercare instructions. But if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and call us.

I’m selling a car – should I get it detailed beforehand?

Detailing services can be very helpful in boosting the appearance of the car when you are looking to sell it. And the long-lasting protection to the paintwork is also an additional benefit of the car which can be used as part of the sales negotiation.

Are you a member of any associations?

West Midlands Car Detailing is proud to work with a number of industry and car groups and associations including:

  • Approved member of the Professional Valeters and Detailers Association
  • Approved detailer for Porsche Club GB
  • Jaguar Owners Club
  • BMW Club GB

I’m collecting a brand new car – surely it wouldn’t need detailing?

Although many assume that new cars won’t need any detailing, this is often wrong for a number of reasons.

A dealership may have cleaned the car, but if unsuitable products were used, swirl marks can appear. We have very often walked around a car showroom and seen large swirl marks on the cars on display there.

You can also find remains of the protective film that new cars have whilst being transported left on the paintwork. And depending on the time between a car arriving at a dealership and being sold, it may have been kept outside, open to elements and other environmental factors which can also affect the paintwork.

New cars will be prepped to look clean and shiny on the surface for sale, however that doesn’t mean the paintwork has been considered and protected, which is where car detailing services can help.

What if I don’t know what level of package I require?

We will happily arrange to have a telephone conversation with you in advance of any booking. Tell us about your car, the issues or concerns you are looking to resolve and we will advise based on our experience and knowledge. If convenient, and in more extreme cases, it may help if you send us images of the car, or even arrange to inspect the vehicle in person before confirming what service you require.

Our aim is to be fully transparent in the services that we offer and will only advise based on what is best for the car and its condition.

Where is your location

We have a unit where all work is carried out. This location is only disclosed to customers who are booked in for a service. Our location also carries no external branding in order to maintain the highest level of discretion and security for you and your vehicle.

Can you arrange drop off/pick up services whilst my car is with you?

Yes, there is a train station situated near to our location and we will be able to transfer you there and back for your convenience whilst we have your car.

Can you come to my home/work to carry out the work?

We do not operate a mobile service. The services which we provide require a controlled environment to ensure the products can work effectively and paint/coatings are not contaminated. This is for the benefit of the car to and ensure you get the best from the service.
